Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR)

29 Jul 2007

The Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations 2007 and Miscellaneous Provisions Regulations (S.I. No. 288 & 289 of 2007) were signed by the Minister at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment on 13th June 2007.

These Regulations apply to the carriage of dangerous goods by road in tanks, bulk, packages, including the packing, loading, filling and unloading of the dangerous goods in relation to their carriage.

These regulations do not only apply to the vehicle drivers. Any company who have hazardous or dangerous goods collected for treatment and disposal will most likely have responsibilities as the “packer”, “filler” and/or “consignor” of the dangerous goods and the legislation has specific responsibilities for each of these activities.
